Troop 23 has taken on the challenge of "bagging" all the high points of New England. We have made several excursions to do this and a small group of Troop 23 Scouts have actually reached all the peaks. In 2003 we last did Mt. Washington and in 2006 we did the other 5 peaks getting RI, CT & MA all on the same day and driving through all 6 NE States on one long day our route took us through:
NH, ME, NH, MA, CT, RI, CT, MA, CT, MA, CT, MA, CT, MA, VT & Finally back into NH.
On separate days we hike Mansfield in VT, with special thanks to Norwich University for letting us Camp out at the old Ski Area and we made or major hike of the summer Katahdin. In 2007 we returned to Mt. Washington, one of the all time great hiking outings of Troop 23.

The Belknap runs right through Griswold Scout Reservation and 3 of the peaks are inside Griswold. The range runs from Mt. Straightback and Mt. Major in the southeast to Mt.s Gunstock and Rowe in the northwest. Any patrol that backpacks 10 of the 12 peaks can have it's members use the hike for one their the 2008 backpacking trip prep-hikes!
